Nepal signed a new air service agreement (ASA) with Singapore on the sidelines of the Singapore Airshow on Feb. 2.
Under the new pact, carriers of Nepal and Singapore are entitled to operate 28 weekly passenger services between the two countries, of which 14 weekly passenger services can be operated via some intermediate points and to a few beyond points in third countries, the official website of the Ministry of Transport, Singapore said.
Similarly, air carriers of both countries are also entitled to operate 14 weekly cargo services between both sides, of which seven weekly cargo services can be operated via any intermediate points and to any beyond points in third countries.
Nagendra Prasad Ghimire, secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, and Choi Shing Kwok, permanent secretary, Ministry of Transport, Singapore signed the agreement on behalf of their respective countries in Singapore.
On the occasion, Kwok said, "The Singapore-Nepal aviation market had experienced strong traffic growth over the past few years. The bilateral air services agreement signed today comes at an opportune time as it serves to further develop air transport between both countries and pave the way for traffic growth ahead."
Currently, SilkAir operates six weekly passenger services between Singapore and Kathmandu.
