The website is a unified and multipurpose facility for online sharing of business information, with a particular focus on small and medium scale enterprise (SMEs). The importance and usefulness of the website can be gauged from the following:
- It is a regional web-based platform from where policy makers, entrepreneurs, business intermediaries, academics and researchers from all over the world can get easy access to the network of organizations that facilitate technology based SMEs in the APCTT member countries and beyond;
- It is also intended to be a repository of intellectual discourse and developments in areas that directly or indirectly influence the growth of technology based enterprises, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region;
- As a result, the website can influence technical cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region by providing interconnectivity and facilitating information and communication among the member countries.
Hoping that all our member countries will join this initiative, the Business-Asia website intends to evolve as a one stop platform that connects ideas, information and resources concerning technology based SMEs in the Asia-Pacific region. I hope the website proves to be of great benefit to all our stakeholders and effectively serves as a business information and support platform in the Asia-Pacific region.

The website (www.business-asia.net) is an online mechanism developed and promoted by APCTT with the intention to promote technology based business cooperation among the countries from the Asia and Pacific region, with a particular focus on small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
This website is conceived and developed with the intention of connecting ideas, information and resources useful for technology based SMEs from the Asia-Pacific region. The website will have comprehensive databases of relevant government and private agencies, companies, business organizations, academic institutions, and professionals involved in facilitating growth of technology based enterprises in the member countries.
Also, it is hoped that the website will become the repository of technology and business related intellectual discourse and developments having implications for technology based businesses. It means building an online databank for relevant papers, articles, reports related to three areas, including science and technology, trade, and the SME sector.
APCTT has recently upgraded the website to make it more user-friendly and effective.
About APCTT
APCTT is a regional institution of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) servicing the Asia-Pacific region. It was established with the objective of facilitating technology transfer in the Asia-Pacific region, with a focus on small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Established in 1977 in Bangalore (India), APCTT moved to New Delhi in 1993. Since then the Center is headquartered in New Delhi with host facilities provided by the Government of India. All member states and associate members of UNESCAP are de facto members of APCTT. The Center:
- Aims at strengthening the technology transfer capabilities in the region and facilitate the transfer of environmentally sound technologies among member countries;
- Promotes technology based cooperation in Asia and the Pacific, with a particular focus on small and medium enterprises;
- Offers consultancy services in various technology transfer related areas, including technology based business cooperation;
- Implements projects funded by various international donors with the objective of strengthening technology transfer environment in the Asia Pacific region;
- Makes special efforts to encourage participation of women in the field of technology.
